Stephen King's IT (1986) Novel Review

Image
I mentioned in my review of  The Exorcist novel that I had started reading Stephen King’s novel IT at one time, but many of the details tested my patience on becoming interested in reading any further… granted I was a lot younger when I attempted this in my Grade 10 year.  I wanted to release a review of the book before the new film comes out but as I am emotionally invested with my husband and my wonderful circle of friends, I simply am short of time right now.  My older sister and I rented the 2-part VHS version of the TV mini-series many times as children.  I also recall scaring the crap out of her BFF when she watched it in our creepy unfinished basement with her!  I slowly walked into the basement without them noticing and yelled on top of my lungs during one of the scary scenes. 😈      In celebration of the new upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s masterpiece, I have allowed a 10th grade high school student I met in a Stephen King’s IT discussion group on Facebook

At a very young age even before I reached the double digits , I had a friend named Thomas and I recall thinking the world of him.  He treated me the best out of all of my friends and didn’t mind my  odd personality I so cherished as a child and even today…  Whenever I got a haircut, I would ask to get my hair like Thomas’s hair.  My memory of him is very faint today, but I remember that we would play all sorts of games and we especially enjoyed pretending to be Batman and Robin .  We would run around with baby blankets tied around our necks, jumping on couches and having the very best times of our early childhoods.  When we pretended to be Batman and Robin , we always imagined being the Adam West and Burt Ward versions.  The series simply called Batman is an old 1966 series that many children enjoyed during my childhood in the late 80’s and early 90’s.  But most notably, it has been a children's hit series ever since it was produced and children everywhere have alway

Ouija: Infamy, History, True Encounter

In my review of The Exorcist  novel I mentioned that around the same time in which I watched the film for the first time, I had also successfully used a Ouija board with my older sister. The following is an excerpt from my book Becoming the Devil They Fear: A Gay Book of Shadows :      After my parents divorced, my mother, sisters and I moved into a duplex as a new beginning.  A strange memory I have in our home was during an Easter break.  My older sister, her friend and I had the idea to purchase a Parker Brother’s Ouija board from a store close to our home.  I still remember the funny looks I got from other shoppers and the cashier.      We took it home, lit a candle and immediately opened the board from the box.   My older sister and her friend used it at this time for the most part.  The planchette looked as though it moved while they barely touched it and they seemed to be talking to a spirit.  They asked general questions about the spirit but I was rather skeptical
